Ingenico Device Troubleshooting

Below you can find useful information about using PAX devices with BridgePay’s suite of products.

PayGuardian Cloud

 

Validating Device Configurations

UPP Configurations

While the device is on the Welcome Screen:

press the “0” key four times on the keypad (0000) to view the firmware/UPP configurations:

Communication Type

To view or modify the communication type configured on the terminal, follow the below steps:

  1. Press 2634

  2. Press “F”

  3. Select “Tetra Admin”

  4. Select “1 - Communication Type”

  5. Select “2 - ETHERNET”

    1. PGC requires Ethernet

  6. Select the Red X

  7. Select "1 - Yes

These steps can be used to resolve the following errors:

  • Connection error PCL Not initialized

Injected Keys

  1. Press 2634

  2. Press “F”

  3. Press TSA

  4. Press DUKPT KSN

    1. Slot 0 = Debit

    2. Slot 5 = BridgePay

TMS Address

To view or modify the TMS address configured on the terminal, follow the below steps:

  1. Press 2634

  2. Press “F”

  3. Select “Tetra Admin”

  4. Select “2 - Download Application”

  5. Select “1 - Configure Download”

  6. Confirm the TMS address matches one of the following for the intended environment:

    1. UAT: temterminalsnar01.preprod.icloud.ingenico.com

    2. PROD: temterminalsnar07.icloud.ingenico.com

Confirm Internet Connection

On the home screen of the device, there will be many different icons displayed in the top section where the date and time appear. If you see 3 green dots in the top left corner you have internet connection vie ethernet. For wifi devices there will be a wifi icon. If green, then connected.

Troubleshooting

Ethernet Setup Steps

The default communication type set in all PayGuardian Cloud Tetra devices is Ethernet. These steps will only be needed if you have changed the communication type to something other then Ethernet and want to change it back.

Setting a Device to process via Ethernet

  1. From the Welcome screen press 2 6 3 4

  2. Press "F (Black Circles on the Move 5000)"

  3. Select "Tetra Admin"

  4. Select “Communication type”

  5. Select "Ethernet"

  6. Press the “Yellow key” 2 times

  7. Select “Yes” to save and reboot

  8. Device will reboot

Manual Update Device Steps

If BridgePay updates either UPP or the PayGuardian application or changes were requested to the device settings, these steps will be taken to download the new applications/settings.

  1. From the Welcome screen press 2 6 3 4

  2. Press "F (Black Circles on the Move 5000)"

  3. Select "Tetra Admin"

  4. Select “Download Application”

  5. Select “Start Download”

  6. When “Enter Package Name” appears, simple hit the “Green Circle Key”

  7. Terminal will download the newest version of UPP, the PayGuardian application and device settings (if there are newer versions/settings then installed currently)

Move 5000 with Base/Dock Setup

The Move 5000 out of the box is a Wi-Fi only device. In order to utilize the Ethernet functionality, you will need a Base/Dock that allows for Ethernet communication. We recommend the Ingenico Move 5000 Charger + Ethernet + Modem + Bluetooth (2RS+1USB-B+1USB-A+1RJ45) PWN32410973A Part Number: 104-777.

To use the Base/Dock with Ethernet, you must first associate the device to the Base/Dock by enabling Bluetooth on the device, then associating the device to the Base/Dock.

Associating a Move 5000 to a Base/Dock

  1. Place the device on the Base/Dock that is plugged into power

  2. From the Welcome screen press 2 6 3 4

  3. Press "F (Black Circles on the Move 5000)"

  4. Select "Tetra Admin"

  5. Select "Configure Bluetooth"

  6. If not already enabled, Tap “Switch on”

  7. Select "Base"

  8. Select "Association"

  9. Select "Add Base"

  10. "Association Successful" message appears if completed.

Now that your device is associated to the Base/Dock, you can now change the communication method to Ethernet.

Setting a Move 5000 Device to process via Ethernet

  1. From the Welcome screen press 2 6 3 4

  2. Press "F (Black Circles on the Move 5000)"

  3. Select "Tetra Admin"

  4. Select “Communication type”

  5. Select "Ethernet"

  6. Press the “Yellow key” 2 times

  7. Select “Yes” to save and reboot

  8. Device will reboot

Now that you device is both associated with the Base/Dock and set up for communication via Ethernet, you are ready to initiate transactions to the device. The device is still completely mobile as long as it is in range with the Base/Dock’s Bluetooth signal.

Setting the Device Date

From the Welcome screen...

  1. press "2634"

  2. Press the “F” key

  3. select “Tetra Admin”

  4. Select 3-Set Date and Time

  5. Select “1-Set Date”

  6. Either keep the current date or enter a new date (Format MM/DD/YYYY)

  7. Press the green key

  8. press red X until back at the welcome screen

Setting the Device Time

From the Welcome screen...

  1. press "2634"

  2. Press the “F” key

  3. select “Tetra Admin”

  4. Select 3-Set Date and Time

  5. Select “2-Set Time”

  6. Either keep the current time or enter a new time (Format 24 hour)

  7. Press the green key

  8. press red X until back at the welcome screen

Wi-Fi Setup Steps

To use the device on Wi-Fi, you must first change the communication method to Wi-Fi in the device and connect it to a Wi-Fi network.

Setting a Tetra Device to process via Wi-Fi (If Supported on the Device)

  1. From the Welcome screen press 2 6 3 4

  2. Press "F (Black Circles on the Move 5000)"

  3. Select "Tetra Admin"

  4. Select "Configure Wi-Fi"

  5. Select "Enable"

  6. Select "Scan Networks"

  7. Select the network you wish to connect to

  8. Enter the Network Password

  9. Press “Green Circle Key"

  10. Press the “Yellow key”

  11. Select “Communication type”

  12. Select “WIFI”

  13. Press the “Red X key”

  14. Tap “Yes” for device reboot

PayGuardian Desktop

PayGuardian Ingenico Credit Card Terminal Connectivity Troubleshooting

  • Double check after installation and use for troubleshooting with step one

  • Troubleshoot if you lose connectivity

FIRST, try installing the newest Ingenico driver.  Make sure you uninstall the old driver first. This should also assist with the PayGuardian Terminal Update tool connectivity issues

If you are still experiencing terminal connectivity issues for PayGuardian Desktop or PayGuardian Web, this document should be able to assist with the resolution.

Restart the PayGuardian service

  1. Go to “ All  Apps” Windows 10, “ All Programs” Windows 7 then scroll to the  PayGuardian folder and  select restart PayGuardian service"

Device Manager

  1. Go to device manager and check under Ports (COM & LPT) double click on the ingenico device listed  ( if none is listed then Windows isn’t seeing the device  – try rebooting computer and the device)

  2. Click on “ Force COM Port” and make sure that the “ Force COM Port Feature enabled checkbox” is checked and an 8 is in the bottom left box.

  3. If the device or Ports (COM & LPT) are not there then check to be sure the ingenico 3.22 driver is installed and that the device is set to USB-CDC mode and it has UIA 19.20.2, RBA 23.0.44 firmware.

PayGuardian

  1. Make sure that when  the device  is selected in PayGuardian “ Hardware” tab the Advanced is  set to Com 8 and saved for each line item then “ Save” at the bottom of the menu is selected. 

  2. If it still doesn’t connect try unchecking “Contactless” in the “ Card Reader” Advanced menu option. Click “Save” in Advanced then “Save” at the bottom of the Hardware menu.

  3. If still not connecting reboot computer and device and try to connect.

Validate TMS Configuration

Validate the TMS configuration of the device by following the below steps:

Note: Contract number is left blank because serial number is the unique identifier.

Miscellaneous

  1. If you can connect and download forms but payments (Swiping or EMV) do not work make sure the P2PE key is in slot 5. To check the injection slots see PayGuardian Installation Guide Appendix A2. If it is in slot 4 the “UIA Update Tool” is needed to update the data pack.

  2. Make sure an AC power adapter is used to power the device.

  3. If the device is showing up in System devices in Device Manager but it is set to USB-CDC then double click on the device entry and delete the driver.

  4. If the device is plugged into the front port of the computer try moving it to a back port.Make sure a USB hub isn’t being used. 

  5. If PayGuardian can be installed on another computer try connecting on a different PC. 

MyBridgePay Virtual Terminal

Currently you cannot use Ingenico devices from the MyBridgePay Virtual Terminal. There are future plans to develop this functionality. For now it is not available.
